Arieanna just called me to let me know that the IIMA event went really well. I wasn’t able to go but at least I get to see Kris Krug’s pictures.
It looks like Kris also did some blogging during the event.
I’m sure Arieanna will post her impressions of it later when she gets home. So keep checking our RSS feed for updates.

Preparing for IIMA

So, I’ve spent the greater part of my afternoon and evening preparing for the upcoming IIMA blogging event where I will be speaking.

I have to say, taking on a topic as broad as “blogging as an effective marketing tool” has been a bit overwhelming. But great on the other hand too. I knew coming into it what I wanted to talk about it, but I’ve been all over the blogosphere beefing up my ideas and really digging down. It’s been a really great experience.

If there is one true rule out there it is that teaching someone else how to do something always teaches you something too. I feel quite empowered by what I’ve read. Looking forward to presenting.

Comment Spam featuring Firefox

Today over at the ipipi blog (a blog I contribute to at work), we got totally sloshed with comment and trackback spam. Now, the trackback spam seems rather of the ordinary sort. Nothing special. But the comment spam is for Firefox (see below)

comment spam

Now, I am all for promoting Firefox. Go Firefox. But why would you want to go to the trouble to send out comment spam for it when there is no fiscal reward to doing so. Must be an obsessed Firefox fan or something.

Don’t know how long it will take Blogware to recognize and delete all the spam, but I hope it’s soon!

I will be speaking on March 9 for the International Internet Marketing Association. The topic is “Blogging for Dollars, The Shifting Sands of Power”

Speakers include myself, Roland Tanglao, and Tris Hussey.

Enter the blogosphere. Yes, that is where blogs live. And it’s where opinions are spread far and wide, where search engines track, where researchers and journalists find juicy grist, and in general where very big things are happening.

The sheer volume of blogs (over four million at last count!) boggles the mind. Bottom line, if your company is poised for growth and leadership, people should be talking about you. Many of your competitors are taking the lead by writing and posting their own blogs — as you read this in fact.

In this workshop three panelists will give you their insights on how to use blogging as an accelerator to business. With practical encouragement and advice, you will leave empowered to blog for your business and enhance your profits!
